Matt is a research technician in the herpetology lab and DNA lab at the Savannah River Ecology Laboratory. He received his Bachelors degree in wildlife biology from the University of Georgia in 2008. His undergraduate research focused on using stable isotopes to examine the diet of Diamondback Terrapins along the Georgia coast. Matt is involved in a number of ongoing research projects at SREL including the long-running Rainbow Bay study, studies of ecotoxicology related to constructed wetlands, and identifying primers for micro-satellites of various amphibians. Matt is especially interested in natural history and ecology of herpetofauna of the southeast and assists with care of animals at SREL's Low Dose Irradiation Facility, and associated experimental studies on radiation effects on animals.
